Alhambra Entry Tickets: Nasrid Palaces Time Slots, ID and Rules

October 26, 2026

The Alhambra is Spain’s most famous monument, and its limited capacity means tickets can be hard to get. Even with a ticket in hand, a few strict rules can catch visitors out. This guide explains how Alhambra entry tickets work, why your Nasrid Palaces time slot matters so much and what to bring on the day.

Which Alhambra Tickets Are Available?

The official ticket office offers several options, including:

  • Alhambra General, the complete visit that includes the Nasrid Palaces.

  • Gardens, Generalife and Alcazaba, for visitors who don’t need the palaces.

  • Night visits to the Nasrid Palaces or to the Gardens and Generalife.

  • Dobla de Oro tickets, which add Andalusian monuments in the Albaicín.

How the Nasrid Palaces Time Slot Works

This is the rule that matters most. Access to the Nasrid Palaces must happen at the exact time printed on your ticket, and punctuality is required. If you’re late, you risk losing your visit to the palaces. Tickets that include the Nasrid Palaces must also be bought or collected at least one hour before your access time.

Plan your day around that slot, leaving plenty of time to walk up the hill and through the complex.

Bring Your ID

An original ID card or passport is mandatory to enter the monument. Each visitor needs their own ticket, although someone else can buy it for you. Children under 12 don’t need ID, but their ticket must show the document number of the accompanying adult. Every ticket, including children’s, must be carried with its QR code, either printed or on your phone.

Alhambra Visitor Rules

  • Bags: backpacks larger than 40 × 40 cm are not allowed.

  • Photography: selfie sticks, flash and tripods are banned inside the Nasrid Palaces and other closed areas.

  • Food and drink: eating and drinking are only allowed in certain areas.

  • Buggies: pushchairs can’t enter the Nasrid Palaces or the Generalife Palace, but there is a special area to leave them.

  • Young children: for safety, children under eight should hold hands with an adult.
